Telese Lab Awarded NIH R01 to Study Metabolic-Epigenetic Mechanisms of Fentanyl Neurotoxicity

We're excited to receive this NIH R01 award to test whether targeting brain energy metabolism can restore epigenetic reprogramming implicated in neuronal-glial communication and protect against long-term cognitive deficits in fentanyl overdose survivors.

This work is part of a broader Chemical Countermeasures Research Program (CCRP) funded by NIH to better understand the lasting effects of ultra-potent synthetic opioids and to develop new therapeutic strategies that go beyond reversing the immediate effects of overdose.
